SURVIVORSHIP CARE INFORMATION FOR SURVIVORS AND NON-SPECIALIST HCPS

PLAIN language summaries were developed within the EU-funded projects PanCareFollowUp and EU-CAYAS-NET, and have been translated into several languages by volunteers of the PanCare Network. They contain information about late effects and recommendations for Survivorship Care in PLAIN (Person-centred, Lay-language, International, Accessible, International, Navigable) language.

These resources are an important support material for Survivorship Care and for the SurPass, and so are included in the PanCareSurPass Implementation Toolkit. Future versions of the SurPass may include direct links to the PLAIN summaries, to further enhance the usability of the SurPass for survivors and non-specialist HCPs.

The PLAIN summaries target survivors, their families and non-specialist HCPs to increase their awareness and understanding of late effects. The summaries are based on the recommendations for the surveillance of late effects (see Recommendations for Survivorship Care). In total, there are 46 PLAIN summaries each focusing on one specific late effect. They include easy-to-understand background information about the late effect, higher risk groups, common symptoms and signs, the recommended Survivorship Care and additional information where relevant.

The PLAIN summaries are updated and maintained by the PanCare PLAIN Information Group following updates to the recommendations for long-term Survivorship Care as described here.
