Case 13 (A) - Antibiotic resistant fever, not during aplasia, in a patient with HR-ALL with a Hickman catheter

Child, 2 years old, male, affected by HR-ALL. A Hickman catheter (CVL) had been placed at diagnosis. During induction therapy (day + 36), in aplasia (ANC < 500/µl), he developed fever (38.7°C). He was receiving total parenteral nutrition due to severe mucositis for 2 weeks, which was stopped three days before he developed fever. Now he presents in stable condition, no abnormality at the entry of the CVL can be detected.
