Profession: Paediatric Oncologist and Haematologist
Dr. Eva Maria Tinner is a paediatric oncologist and haematologist with a focus on survivorship and paediatric palliative care.
She played a key role in establishing two interdisciplinary follow-up clinics (2017 in Liestal, 2018 in Bern) for adult survivors of childhood cancer and remains the paediatric oncologist on both teams,
alongside her internist colleagues who serve as clinical leads.
Her commitment to survivorship care began during her clinical fellowship at Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals, where she collaborated with Rod Skinner and the Children and Young Person Oncology Outreach Specialists.
This experience ignited her passion for holistic care for children and survivors with complex needs.
Upon returning to Switzerland, Dr. Tinner worked to implement survivorship care and manage children with poor prognoses, completing the Dattelner Curriculum in paediatric palliative care (2014).
Additionally to her work in the survivorship clinics, Dr. Tinner is a consultant in the paediatric palliative care team at the University Children’s Hospital Zurich.
She has been a member of PanCare since 2014 and is representing PanCare in the Steering Committee of the SIOPE Palliative Care Working Group since 2025.
Additionally, she serves as Chair of the Survivorship Working Group within the Swiss Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology.
