The PanCare PLAIN language summaries are now available in Spanish!

The PanCare PLAIN summaries contain information about late effects and recommendations for long-term follow-up care. They are written in lay language and targeted to survivors, their families and friends and non-specialist healthcare providers. Originally, they were created in English, but next to Italian and Hungarian, they are now also available Spanish.

Special thanks for creating the translation to Ana Carolina Izurieta-Pacheco, pediatric oncologist at the Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona, Hospital Sant Joan de Déu; Catalina Márquez-Vega, pediatric oncologist at the Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío and coordinator of the Long-Term Effects Working Group/SEHOP (Spanish Society of Pediatric Hematology and

Oncology) along with other group collaborators; and reviewed and adapted by Mila Ogalla, Communication Expert, Patient Advocate, and Young Cancer Survivor.

ℹ️ The English version of the PLAIN summaries was developed within the EU-funded projects PanCareFollowUp and EU-CAYAS-NET as described by van den Oever (2024) et al. in “From long-term follow-up Recommendations for clinical practice to plain language summaries for childhood, adolescent, and young adult cancer survivors” https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2772610X24000242. The PLAIN summaries are based on the PanCareFollowUp recommendations for surveillance of late effects of childhood, adolescent, and young adult cancer which can be found on the PanCare website (https://www.pancare.eu/pancare-follow-up-recommendations-for-surveillance-of-late-effects/ and as described by van Kalsbeek et al.
